Courses based on The Sunflower Effect have a very high success rate for people who complete the courses (even those with severe inhibitions), and are very different from most other educational courses/classes. So that you and everyone else on your course will experience maximum benefit I ask for slightly higher commitment levels.

Please read these terms and conditions carefully and make sure you understand them before booking a place on one of the Sunflower Effect Confidence Courses.

They are designed so that your course/workshop will be effective both for you and the other people participating. I say this because it’s been my experience, as a participant in these courses, that there is power in the group - we are seen, we are heard, we witness each other. This plays a huge part in why this work works so well. Hence, the request for a commitment to the group. We all have emergencies, and may not be able to make every session, but I implore you to make that commitment and make as many as possible, if not all. 

By purchasing services and/or products on this site, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. If you are not willing to be bound by these terms and conditions please do not purchase services or products from this site.

I will do everything in my power to ensure that you make the shifts you are seeking and if you hit against any problems please communicate with me so I can support you better. If for any reason, I feel the course is not right for you, we can explore what the issue may be. I may recommend individual sessions either in addition to your course or in place of it.

Changes to terms

We reserve the right, at our discretion, to modify, add, or remove any or all of these terms and conditions at any time and each such change shall be effective immediately upon posting.

Please check these terms and conditions periodically for changes.

Your continued use of this site and purchase of services or products on this site following the posting of changes to these terms and conditions will mean you accept those changes. Please check the terms before every purchase.

If the revised terms apply to any existing provision of services, we will notify you of the changes.

IMPORTANT Please also be aware of my GDPR privacy and data protection policy. This is required by EU law. You will be acknowledging  that you are aware of my privacy policy when you sign up for the course. Your privacy and confidentiality is a very important aspect of my courses and has been so since 1997.

Securing your booking

When you express your intention to book on to a course or workshop (this may be after having a confidential chat with me about what you are wanting to achieve), you will receive an email containing details of how you book your place either online or offline. Alternatively, you can book directly online. Please read the information carefully in the email and/or on the online booking page and be sure you understand it fully. 

In order to secure your booking on the course of your choice, a non-refundable deposit is required –  usually at least a month before your course starts. We have a limited number of places on each course, so to avoid disappointment it is advisable to pay your deposit as soon as you can – because for the more popular courses, places can disappear and you may have to wait for the next time I run the course.

We will often email you and let you know that the course is close to being full so you have an opportunity to secure your place. However, you must respond swiftly.

The deposit is in all cases non-refundable.

The balance of payment will be taken shortly after the course starts unless you are paying by instalments.

It is possible to pay for a course by instalments with a credit, debit card or by post-dated cheques – so that paying for a course is easier for you. Please see booking details for the individual course or workshop you have booked onto.

Please be aware that you commit to paying for all the sessions (even if you decide or have to leave the course and even if you are paying in instalments.)  Please honour the arrangement you have made so we can continue to offer this option to others who, like you, would not be able to afford the course otherwise.

(If you encounter financial difficulties please get in touch with me so we can find a way of you continuing with the course. This may be through a long term instalment arrangement or through work exchange.)

The process for workshops is similar. You can book online.


Please note that commitment to the course or workshop is important in order for it to be effective both for you and other people in the course/workshop. This will involve you “sticking with it” even when you don’t feel like it, feel tired or are feeling a bit “wobbly”!

This is not the kind of course where you need to be “firing on all cylinders” – in fact coming to the course when you are feeling vulnerable is in most cases the best thing you can do – because a course like this is going to bring out your defence mechanisms. This is what has stopped you achieving your goals in the past. It is my job to support you through your wobbly patch so you can break through your resistance – and start moving through the blockages that have hampered you in the past.

I have seen fantastic results with people who are committed and are willing to give the course everything they’ve got. For many people learning how to be committed is the first step to making a real difference to their confidence levels.

If the course/workshop doesn’t work then I offer a 100% money-back guarantee (see below for conditions).

It is fine to miss sessions however make sure that you are missing a session for an unavoidable reason. Are you missing a session because deep down you are not wanting or afraid to come?

Be aware all missed sessions must be paid for. If you miss too many sessions, particularly key early sessions in a course, I may suggest that you repeat the course. You will be offered a discount to repeat the course.



I am delighted to offer the No Moves Money-Back Guarantee to new participants because I know how effective these courses are. I want you to get value.

But you must meet these conditions. In the case of 12-week courses, you must attend 10 out of the 12 sessions of any course. If you are participating in a workshop or weekend course – you need to attend the full workshop or weekend – and not be more than 15 minutes late at the start of each day and from a lunch-break. You must also participate in full in the course or workshop (see below).

If you meet these conditions and have gained nothing from the experience then I will refund in full the payment I received from you. Please be aware that the card services do not refund their fees, so if you have paid online there will be a small deduction – depending on what fees I have paid. I will include this information when I make the refund. You are welcome to pay in full by electronic transfer. But you also must fill in this booking form 

What do you mean “participate in full”?

This means that you’re putting your best foot forward, you are visibly “doing your best” and engaging in the process, then I will happily refund your money.  That doesn’t mean that you won’t have resistance, won’t be scared or won’t have challenges to overcome. I am there to support you to the best of my ability with overcoming these (see the top of this page).

However, if you are half-hearted about participating then you will get half-hearted results – that’s the way it is. I do not refund money to people who do not demonstrate their commitment to the course or workshop.

I also ask you to wait 6 weeks after a course or workshop has finished before you apply for your refund because it can take a little while for the shifts to take place. Results are sometimes instantaneous but for many people, it can take a little while for you to process the changes.


Please be aware that everyone is different and has different ways of growing and shifting and I cannot guarantee you will achieve the results you are seeking straight away – particularly if you’ve had a lot of painful experiences that have undermined your confidence or have been deeply in your shell for a very long time.

Often by participating in a follow-up course or attending an individual session will enable you to move through the internal blockages and you will then see significant shifts. Slow and steady progress is recommended. Those who participate in a number of my courses, see the most significant results.

Be aware that as a human you are a complex being, and if you have received psychological damage, it can take time to heal and recover. The Sunflower Effect has helped many people recover from these traumas, and in fact, has proved more effective than many other methods.   Growth is incremental and I advise participating in other complementary courses and coaching to maintain your progress and to see even deeper results.

The Sunflower Effect invites you to look at your life, behaviour and beliefs and try different ways of behaving and operating in the world.  It is based on solid principles and evidence that has worked for thousands of people, and you are free to go back to your old behaviours and beliefs after your course or workshop. I am simply asking you to open your mind to other possibilities whilst you are participating.

If you are not willing to open your mind, are verbally antagonistic and your conduct is having a negative impact on other participants, I reserve the right to ask you to leave the course or workshop. In this case, no refund will be offered, except in exceptional circumstances.

No refund will be made if for whatever reason you cancel after the course has begun.

In the unlikely event that I have to cancel your course, a full refund will be made less any fees that the card service charges.  I do not cover any travel costs incurred.

In case of future lockdowns due to COVID or any similar public health emergency, when I am unable to run the courses safely at the venue, I will move the course online. If you are unable to attend the online sessions you can make up the sessions you missed when I run the course again.

If you pay the non-refundable deposit, the outstanding balance will be taken shortly after the course starts. If you book in the week before the first session, it’s fine to join but full payment must be made before the day of the first session.

If your employer is paying and you would prefer to be invoiced, please email me at jane@uglyducklifecoaching.co.uk.

In the event of cancellation by you after paying in full, a refund of the balance (less the non-refundable deposit and less any fees charged by the card services) will be made provided that notice of 14 days is given before the course begins. If we are able to fill your place, you may be able to transfer the full fee to a future course.

If you cancel a cheque, debit/credit card or electronic payment without contacting and consulting with me first,  you will not be able to participate in any future courses until full restitution is made. You have agreed with these terms and conditions when you sign up for the course and so you are legally bound to make payment. So, in cancelling your payment you are in effect breaking the law. If you have hit a significant challenge please contact me so we can discuss your situation. I bend over backwards to support you.  So please get in touch, and honour these terms and conditions, rather than taking such drastic action.

If, after the first session, you feel that the course is not suitable for you or may even impede your progress (this is very rarely the case), then get in touch with me. I may suggest doing some individual sessions or participating in some other kinds of work, before rejoining the course at a future date.  I may approach you if I feel that the course is not suitable for you or you may need some extra help. See below.

If a cheque bounces or a payment fails, we will inform you and give you an opportunity to make the payment again.


In the time that you choose to participate in my courses, in whatever capacity, I offer you my heartfelt support to assist you in breaking out of your shell. However, I ask that you take full responsibility for yourself, your own learning and for getting any additional support you may need.

I have noticed over the years that when you participate in my courses and take responsibility for yourself, (this is different from blaming yourself and feeling guilty for the mistakes you have made), you will naturally begin to build confidence. As a result, changes will inevitably occur in other areas of your life, such as work, health and relationships.

Please inform me in advance about any medical, mental or emotional conditions either past or present which may affect your health or suitability to do the course. Part of the basis of my commitment to you is that you let me know information regarding yourself. This will be confidential. We recommend that if you are currently in therapy, that you discuss doing this course with your therapist.

If I feel that the course that you are booked onto is having a detrimental effect on you, I may suggest that you transfer to another of my courses (where possible), attend an individual session, or that you stop attending the course. If I am not able to offer the help you need, I will refund your course fees for the remaining sessions, less any fees that the card service charges. If you have attended 4 sessions, and then you miss 2 sessions before contacting me or responding to my emails/calls – I will refund 6 sessions of a 12-week course.

In rare circumstances, it may be necessary to ask a participant to leave a course due to inappropriate conduct. In these cases, no refunds or transfers will be given. This has never yet happened, as my courses attract positive, motivated and highly supportive people. This is something that many participants comment on.


I will consider in good faith complaints made to me in writing. In the unlikely event that we are unable to resolve any issues and it becomes necessary to refer the problem to a single mediator or into arbitration, we will share the costs of this between us.

Terms & Conditions - Life Coaching

Take the time to read this, please! You’ll get way more out of your coaching session and it’s important that we are on the same page when working together as Coach (me) and Client (you).


I will do everything possible to support you in achieving your own results and desired outcomes.

You are responsible for the cause of all change in your life.

I will work with you to identify solutions and offer suggestions, options and advise based on my own personal experience, training and appropriate information.

You accept full responsibility for all decisions and courses of action.

You are responsible for creating and implementing your own physical, mental and emotional well-being, decisions, choices, actions and results. As such, you the Client agrees that the Coach is not and will not be liable for any actions or inaction, or for any direct or indirect result of any services provided by the Coach. Client understands coaching is not therapy and does not substitute for therapy if needed, and does not prevent, cure, or treat any mental disorder or medical disease.


The Client understands that coaching is not to be used as a substitute for professional advice by legal, mental, medical or other qualified professionals and will seek independent professional guidance for such matters. If Client is currently under the care of a mental health professional, Coach will recommend that Client inform the mental health care provider and the client may need to have a referral letter from their health care provider.


You, the Client agrees to communicate honestly, be open to feedback and assistance and create the time and energy to participate fully in the program.


I, the Coach will recommend the frequency of coaching sessions based on a professional assessment of your requirements. This recommendation, or plan, is not binding and may be altered and adjusted throughout the coaching journey by mutual agreement, in accordance with the terms set out in this agreement.


I, The Coach reserves the right to change, modify or cancel any programs as considered necessary. Any such change will be made in consultation with the Client.

Coaching is a partnership (defined as an alliance, not a legal business partnership) between the Coach and the Client in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires the Client to maximise personal and professional potential.


Coaching is a collaborative conversation that aims to help the Client gain clarity and insights. It is focused purely on the Client’s agenda. Coaching helps the Client discover the right way to progress, and by asking questions, helps the Client to find the right answers and take actions. Coaching is supportive and non-judgmental. You enter into coaching with the understanding that you are responsible for creating your own results.


Coaching Calls

Telephone calls will be initiated by the Client.


I, the Coach, will not divulge that you are in a coaching relationship without your express consent. You, of course are free to discuss the coaching relationship with anyone at anytime.

If the Client reports child, elder abuse or neglect or threaten to harm themselves or someone else, necessary actions will be taken and the confidentiality agreement is limited in this capacity. Furthermore, if the Coach is ordered by a court to provide information or to testify, she will do so to the extent the law requires.



All Coaching Sessions are scheduled in advance by direct agreement between you and me. If for any reason you cannot attend a scheduled Coaching Session you are fully responsible for informing me and arranging an appointment at least 48 hours in advance, otherwise the session will be deemed forfeit. You are responsible for rescheduling via phone or email.

The schedule (including number and frequency of sessions) and the fees due for the Clients coaching sessions will be agreed at the start of coaching between the Coach and the Client, and confirmed by the Coach by email or written correspondence. Where no specific number is agreed sessions will be provided on a session by session basis.

The date that the first coaching session takes place shall be deemed to be the start date for the service.


In return for the fees payable by the Client (or by a third party on their behalf), the Coach agrees to provide the service as described in this agreement and in accordance with the terms and conditions set out in this agreement. The client agrees to pay fees for the service on the terms and conditions set out in this agreement (in situations where a third party pays the fees, the third party counts as an agent acting on behalf of the client).


Notice of cancellation

All notice of cancellation must be in writing and delivered by call, text or email to jane@uglyducklifecoaching.co.uk. Cancellation notice will be deemed on the date in which the cancellation is received by Ugly Duck Life Coaching. No refunds, credits or transfers available for no-shows. If you are enrolled in continuing Coaching for a number of sessions, unused sessions due to quitting the program may not be eligible for refund, credit or transfer.

Free extra time

There is no extra charge for brief “catch up calls” between your Coaching Sessions, whether to discuss an issue or concern or share something great! I provide this free additional service to give you superior value and results.

Free email access

I am available during the week via email to share wins, seek clarity on actions or review minor issues. Again, there is no charge for any of the brief “catch up emails”.

Between sessions

I may assign you tasks or exercises to complete between coaching sessions. There is no obligation on you to complete these items of ‘homework’, but not doing so may slow your progress in gaining improved quality of life or achieving desired business or personal outcomes. 


If Coaching isn’t right for you

Your Coaching Program can be suspended if we mutually agree that a Sunflower Effect Course may be of more benefit for you. Life Coaching helps you become more self aware and uncovers the blocks that stops you from living your life to the full. While plenty of people may be aware that they have a lack of confidence, you may also call it something else - fear, doubt, imposter syndrome. So many of our blocks can be summed up as, or be traced back to a lack of confidence, so while I would hope you book a Sunflower Course prior to Life Coaching, I’m happy to accommodate you if you make this discovery during Coaching!


If at any time the Client or Coach believe the Coaching Sessions and agreement are no longer serving the needs of the Client they may initiate a discussion to rectify the situation prior to cancelling the

Program or Sessions.

If you wish to cancel the agreement and payments within 5 business days of the date indicated you may do so for a full 100% refund of any monies paid less the cost of any products delivered. This refund is only available if services have not commenced in any way rendering any refund void.

Payment Plans 

If any instalment payment should default, the Client will have seven (7) days to rectify the situation. Any schedules coaching session(s) will be postponed until payment is received within the 7 days, all discounts and bonuses will be forfeited and full payment will apply. If a Client should default on any instalment payment, the result may be cancellation from the Program and the Cancellation Policy will apply. 

Taster Sessions

Only one Taster session per person! If you wish to have any more, either book the programme or an individual session. 

Intellectual Property

All material relating to the Program is subject to copyright and other intellectual property rights. All materials may not be recorded, used or reproduced without the written permission of the owner.


You understand that all action taken is performed voluntarily and is your own responsibility. Clients should seek independent professional advice before undertaking any physical, business or investment actions.

Agreement Section

By entering into a Coaching Agreement either through signing a Coaching Agreement or paying any amount to your Coach, you agree to abide by the terms and conditions as set out above.

Where any client is unhappy with any of the terms and conditions they can contact the Coach to discuss any concerns and see if they can be resolved before the first coaching session.


Participation by any individual in the first coaching session constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions.
